A little confused

Lately, there has been a lots of visitors coming and going to our house. It all started with the little one. She came home and since then, people come and go almost every day. The funny thing is that the little one seems to stick around. I’m wondering when she will leave…

Wordless Wednesday

Near miss- xylitol

It’s no news that the Snowieners are spoiled. They are under supervision 24/7. When we go to work, they go to daycare. When we travel they stay home with a pet sitter.
Yesterday, we decided we would leave them for 2 hours. We cleared coffee tables and surfaces that they might have access to avoid unpleasant surprises.
When we came back we found out tiny cardboard pieces everywhere! They managed to find a pack of gum (we did not know where it was) and completely destroyed it. The gum was there too. It looks like they licked it and the strong mint flavor discouraged them from trying to eat it.
Turns out Clorets do not have xylitol in it and we were OK.
Xylitol is very toxic for dogs! Here is a list I found containing the brands that do not use xylitol for your reference.

Happy New Year!

Meet the blogger – blog hop

319 DJP10253

When I heard that on Dec. 18th some bloggers were going to share more about themselves I thought it would be a good idea to join them. You too can join us and put a face to the name.

All you have to do is share a picture of yourself:

And answer some questions:

1. Other than blogging, what are three things you do that bring you joy?
-I love spending time with my hubby and dogs. During the weekends I look forward our afternoon walks. We try to go at least 3 miles per day. I also love to travel and this year we traveled with the Snowieners to L.A., Seattle and to a few towns here in Alaska.

2. What drives you nuts about your pets?
-TeKeela and Bailey are going through this phase were they bark non-stop and want to be let out whenever they hear the doorbell, a dog barking, when they hear children laugh or cry. All of these could be real situations or the TV.

3. What melts your heart?
-Everything else(besides barking) melts my heart. I love when I see them play with each other, see how much they enjoy going on walks, and when they beg for belly rubs and affection.

I would also like to share that English is not my first language and Alaska has been my home for the past 6 years. We are currently looking for our next destination. So stay tuned, we might need to change the our name to “sand-wieners” 🙂

Thank you for following and for all your comments. It is great to find people all over the world who are willing to share their love for their pets.

Black & White Sunday

The powder is back! Check out Bailey running inside the cross country ski tracks. The storm started on Friday night and today we have over a foot of fresh powder. It will be an interesting walk today!

Weather blues

Let’s go swimming

We are constantly looking for fun fitness activities. We hike all year long, even in the snow. Last winter I learned that not all winter days are the same. The Snowieners enjoy breaking trail, and if the snow is wet, they will get cold faster. Also, they will be prone to getting snowballs in their paws and chest.

We just learned hat there is an indoor pet pool in town! This will be a good alternative for us during rainy fall days or wet snow winter days.  TeKeela tried on the small floating device and it fit perfectly (It’s not easy being a doxie sometimes).

The pool has a ramp entrance. A professional is available to assist the dog in/out the pool. Unfortunately, some local laws do not allow pets and owners to go in the pool together.

We had a blast watching this lab play fetch in the pool.  This looks like a warm, clean and safe fitness alternative. Do you have a dog pool in your area? Please share your experiences.

We are happy to participate in the K9 Kamp Fall Session. This blog hop is brought to you by YDWWWYWPeggy’s Pet Place and Kol’s Notes.

Smile, it’s Friday

This weekend we will be working on the Snowieners costumes for Halloween. There will be a costume contest at the doggie daycare and the picture with the most ‘likes’ in their FB page will be the winner.
We will need your support on Oct 31st. Would you help us?
Will share the link some time on October 31st.
This year, Sugar, the Golden Retriever, helped us find our costumes. How fun!

Smile, it’s Friday!

Go out and play.
