Hiking Summit Lake

Summit Lake @ Hatcher's Pass.

Summit Lake @ Hatcher’s Pass.

Summit Lake is 2 miles and 800 feet of elevation from the Hatcher’s Pass Lodge. It was a cool (41F) and rainy day, but we wore our winter coats hiked around the lake. We ran into these four playful Labradors. They were swimming in the lake and I couldn’t help but stare. DSCN3148

So I decided to give it a try, but the water was too cold for me.

DSCN3161Then we hiked around the lake and found beautiful scenery everywhere we turned.

Thanks! We are back to the mid 70’s. But it doesn’t get hotter than that. You should come, I bet you will love it here.

That’s Labs for ya, if there is a body of water to be found they must be in it. But, for you it looks like a lovely walk, I hope you do get to go back when it’s warmer.

It’s too funny looking at T&B admiring them so much and then trying to imitate them.

I know! We are back to mid 70’s, but it can get cold when it is overcast.

Beautiful place. Your weather reminds me of fall hiking. The colors look so much richer then.

    • snowieners

This is very characteristic of the tundra. We are planning a trip back here when the fall colors start to appear (way before real Autumn). It is all red/yellow and gorgeous.
