Wow, that’s so interesting! Does your longest day of the year typically take place a couple days before summer officially begins? Don’t you also get long ‘nights’ during the winter there? Is it pretty easy to get used to, or do you find it harder to sleep with lots of daylight and wanting to sleep more with lots of darkness?

The longest day of the year is at the Summer solstice (Jun 21st). The shortest is at winter solstice (Dec 21st). We gain daylight everyday form the winter solstice to the summer solstice, then we start to lose it until winter solstice.
Both summer and winter can be very hard, especially for newcomers. It’s so difficult to sleep during summer. Lots of people use blackouts, but it’s never the same. I caught myself a few times doing crazy stuff like de weeding the garden at 10 p.m. Or walking the dogs. But I was not the only one.

I figured it would line up like that with the dates of when summer officially begins. I could see how it could all be challenging with the sleep schedule. So interesting!

Wow!! Thanks for posting those. I hope you do one in 6 months so we can see the difference… or will it just be black?

Pretty much. Shortest day is 6 hours and this is counting the long dawn and dusk. Thanks for the idea. I’ll post the winter solstice one later on.

Good luck with your summer nights! Ya se acostumbraron o todavía las sufren? Tus perros son divinos! Qué padre que compartes. Abrazos a los cuatro!

    • snowieners

Es difícil acostumbrarse cuando todo cambia todo el tiempo. Ya no nos sorprende, eso sí. Abrazos también.

That is amazing! We’re getting ready to celebrate summer solstice tomorrow – my favorite day of the year – but not quite as long as yours! Happy Summer!
